Washington County District 2 Honors Wife and Son in North Plains for Saving the Husband/Father

CPR mostly ends up being performed on family members, neighbors and friends. And, this is how a man in North Plains, Oregon was saved by his wife and son on January 25th, 2015. Troy Van Roekel was working on his family's farm when he suddenly collapsed due to a seizure. Finding that Troy is completely unconscious, Troy's wife Laurie Roekel and son Nathan Roekel instantly started CPR on him. Laurie performed uninterrupted chest compressions until the arrival of the ambulance. This quick and appropriate action of the family helped Troy in breathing again. Few minutes later, the ambulance along with a Fire and rescue engine arrived on the scene. Troy was shifted to Emanuel Hospital for further treatments after his heart started beating normally. Thus, on Tuesday February 10th, 2015, the Washington County Fire District 2 honored Laurie and Nathan Roekel with the Citizen Life Saver Award at the Fire Station 17 located in North Plains. Moreover, volunteer firefighter and neighbor, Lt. Terry Buns was also honored as he rushed towards his neighbor's farm when he heard the 911 emergency call from them on the radio. 40 year old Troy Van Roekel, who was also present at the recognition ceremony, is extremely proud of his wife and son whose sensible and timely actions saved his life. http://portlandtribune.com/pt/9-news/251425-120604-father-saved-by-wife-and-son-by-cpr
