With sudden cardiac arrest being the number one cause of death in the country, the American Red Cross Chapters  all over United States are providing awareness regarding CPR and its significance in saving the life of the victim. March has been recognized as the American Red Cross Month. Thus, on Monday 2nd March, 2015, the local American Red Cross chapter commenced the Project Prepare in Marion County. The purpose of this project was to provide instructions regarding hands-only CPR to the local people. The participants were provided rubber trucks to press down in time. First of all the metronome was set at hundred beats per minute and later was set at the beat of ' "Staying Alive" recording. Cole McMath, the AmeriCorps member was the instructor of the class comprising of around ten participants at the Marion County chapter's offices. Thus, according to the executive director for the North Central Ohio chapter of the Red Cross, Todd James, the main idea of the Red Cross' Project Prepare is to take on 500,000 local people in the 45-county Ohio Buckeye Region organization and prepare them for different kinds of disasters and emergency situations faced by their community. Todd explained, "We want you all to be prepared because disasters happen every day." According to Cole McMath, the purpose of making these participants learn CPR is to encourage them to take action in emergency situations. He also said, "The main thing this course is trying to teach is willingness to act, not being afraid of stepping up in a crowd. That's what we're encouraging today." Around 11,500 volunteers were trained in disaster preparedness last year by the seven-county North Central Ohio chapter of the Red Cross, including Marion County. Moreover, Project Prepare includes training volunteers in skills like building an emergency kit, performing hands-only CPR, installing smoke alarms and creating family escape plans etc. http://www.marionstar.com/story/news/local/2015/03/02/cpr-training-part-red-cross-project-prepare/24283361/
